Dipl.-Soz. Julia Unfried

Julia Unfried was born in Nuremberg, Germany (1984). She studied sociology at the Otto-Friedrich-University Bamberg with main emphasis on empirical social research. She received her diploma degree in May 2011. In her diploma thesis she studied the operative utilization of atypical employment in German firms, explaining the motives of using these flexible employment forms and analyzing special determinants which have an impact on the operative use.
From May 2009 to October 2010 she was working as a student assistant at the chair of sociology I and at Stage 6 “Vocational Education and Training and Transitions into the Labor Market” of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS) in Bamberg. Additionally, she was working as a student assistant at the Institute of Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg, from February 2010 to May 2011.
Since June 2011 she is engaged as a research scientist and Ph.D. student in the ERC Advanced Grant project "Education as a Lifelong Process - Comparing Educational Trajectories in Modern Societies". Her special interests include labour market and employment research, life course research as well as the comparison of different educational systems and quantitative methods.
