Patricia O'Reilly MSocSc.

Patricia O’ Reilly was born in Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland. She graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) in 2004 with a Master’s Degree in Sociology and worked with the Centre for Social and Educational Research in DIT in 2005 before taking up the post of Teaching Assistant with the Sociology Department in UCD.

In 2006 she travelled to Japan to teach English as a foreign language on the JET programme (The Japanese Exchange and Teaching programme).

On her return she worked as a full-time research assistant for the Geary Institute and a tutor for the Sociology Department at University College Dublin from 2007 to 2009 and as a research assistant with St. John of God Provincial Administration Stillorgan, Dublin from 2009 to 2011.


Since April 2011 she works as a research scientist and Ph.D. student in the ERC Advanced Grant project "Education as a Lifelong Process - Comparing Educational Trajectories in Modern Societies". Her academic interests include:  The sociology of Education, Early Childhood Education and Adult Literacy and Learning.
